Calisthenics is predominantly a team sport, however team members also have the opportunity to compete individually in a solo or duo. Solos and duos are an excellent way to extend skills learnt in team items, and to develop confidence and performance skills.
There are two types of solos which can be performed:
Calisthenics solos combine elements of Free Exercises and Dance. Team members can compete in calisthenics solos from 8 years of age.
Graceful solos combine elements of Aesthetic and Rhythmic items. They require elegance, poise, strong dance technique and interpretation. Team members can compete in graceful solos from 11 years of age.
Solo competitions take place between March and May, and team members must have completed the relevant pupil skills exam to be eligible to compete in solos.
